It is never too late to try something new – and while, of course, you are unlikely to be able to try even half of what the world has to offer, there is no harm at all in getting around to as many of them as you can. There are some incredible experiences to be had, no matter where you are in the world, so you might need a little guidance on where to start.
Some things gravitate around individuals, whereas others are created by communities and unique experiences that are completely down to how you view the world. There are, however, some things that are likely to appeal (or at least be an eye-opener) for pretty much everybody.
#1 Go to a Lego Convention
Even if you don’t know much about Lego, you will almost certainly want to make the effort to attend a Lego convention. It is an amazing celebration of creativity and color and is inclusive to all Lego fans on an international scale. You might want to prime yourself by reading a report from someone who has been there themselves, like Mike Savage of New Canaan at a Lego convention, or watch videos of the amazing things that go on there.
There are often amazing builds, competitions, and no end of creators to celebrate with. Even if you are new to all of this, you are likely to find that you are surrounded by incredible things, and sculptures that will just take your breath away. It is well worth your while going to Lego Con, and once you are there, there is a very real chance you will be obsessed for life.
#2 Travel to and Around Europe
Traveling to Europe is a great idea and whether you decide to ‘go solo’ or with friends, you can experience Europe in one million different ways. If you are interested in rich culture and history, you will find that Europe is overflowing with it, or if you are just interested in tourist attractions and food, you won’t be disappointed either. If you are interested in urban areas, you will find beautiful cities full of activities. On the other hand, if rural landscapes are more your thing, you will find places that will take your breath away.
Traveling between countries is relatively easy too, as you can drive, take the train, or fly. There are numerous different countries in Europe, all suited to different tastes. If you prefer hotter countries, Italy, Spain and Portugal are the places to go. If you are one for colder climates, Switzerland, Norway, and Sweden might be more to your taste.
#3 Meditation and Mindfulness
As well as traveling outwards, you might also enjoy embarking on a more inward journey. Meditation and mindfulness can be very enriching to anyone’s life, yet so few dismiss them out of hand. You are likely to find that you might benefit a lot from learning how to relax your mind and grow into yourself, as well as how it affects the people around you. It can be a good way to cope with stress, depression, anxiety, and desperation, as well as help you to navigate challenging situations.
Like many people, you might find it easier to meditate doing different things. To some people, meditation is sitting in one spot and relaxing the entire body, but some people like to meditate when they go out for walks and runs, and others do it when they are making something, for example, when they knit or garden. This can be incredibly enriching and can help you discover yourself and helps you to make decisions and discover yourself better.
#4 A Big Career Change
Everyone should have a big career change (by choice) in their lives. It is something that can help you develop into a better or more experienced person and can be amazing if are not too keen on your current occupation. You can learn a lot from a career change, whether you are going from something like teaching to nursing, or a retail worker moving to a big office job – this kind of change of pace might do you some good.
It can help you meet new people, learn about new cultures, and potentially give you a job in a sector you have always wanted to work in – or perhaps you are stepping down from your dream job to wind down into easier roles for your later years. Either way, a big career change can be the best way to switch up your life, surround yourself with people more like you, or just get closer to a dream.
#5 You Have to Try an Extreme Sport
There are plenty of people that will tell you that if you have not tried an extreme sport, you haven’t lived a full life. These aren’t sports that are necessarily hard on the body, (although they can be), but they are generally sports that are carried out in extreme conditions. For example, skateboarding is an extreme sport, and so are surfing, and skydiving too. It can give you a real adrenaline kick and might even kick-start a new life-changing hobby. This might be doing something like:
- Skiing,
- Snowboarding,
- Ice Skating,
- Windsurfing,
- Surfing,
- Paragliding,
- Skydiving,
- Rock climbing
- Abseiling
- Bungee jumping,
- Kayaking,
- Canoeing,
- Diving,
- Mountain biking,
- And canyoning.
All of these have the potential to be incredibly fun and thrilling, along with helping you make amazing memories that could last a lifetime. You might want to experience these on a trip, like while making your way across Europe. You might find it fun to combine extreme sports and traveling to make your time that much more enjoyable and give you an all-around experience to remember.
To Wrap Everything Up
Regardless of who you are, there are some things in life that you just must try. These might be incredibly fun and active things, like giving one of the many extreme sports a go. If you prefer something a bit less active, you could dip your toe into the world of meditation and mindfulness. Some things challenge you and give you something amazing to work toward, like starting a new job down a completely different career path.
Instead, you might choose to discover more about incredible cultures, such as what you can see in Europe, filled with beautiful landscapes and a little something for everyone. You might even want to just try going to an event you have never tried before, such as Lego con to see amazing sculptures, meet new people, and learn new things about the creative world of building.
