Saitama, despite his seemingly mundane and unimpressive appearance, has a rather unusual pastime: being a hero. For three years, he trained relentlessly in an effort to achieve his childhood dream. When Genos, a 19-year-old cyborg, shows up, this all changes, and he wishes to be Saitama’s disciple once he has witnessed what he is capable of. Genos suggests that the two join the Hero Association so as to become certified heroes who will receive recognition for their contributions to society. When Saitama learns no one knows who he is, he quickly agrees to share. Here begins the story of One Punch Man, an action-comedy that follows an eccentric individual who yearns to fight heroes who can hopefully bring him the same excitement he once felt, and perhaps as a result, maybe he will become popular.
