It was during the 2000s that computer-animated movies became mainstream, resulting in a flurry of new movies in the past two decades. The audience, however, has only really taken to a handful of those films. Kung Fu Panda is one of them. Since the franchise began, it has received positive reviews and numerous awards. Following the release of the third sequel, Kung Fu Panda 4 has been one of the most anticipated movies for the past five years.
Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation, recently addressed the possibility of a fourth Kung Fu Panda movie. Fans are more hopeful than ever. During the interview, he said that the franchise will have three more movies in the future, making that a total of six movies from DreamWorks Animation.
The COVID-19 pandemic is reported to have hampered the movie’s production, even though the movie hasn’t yet been officially announced. The fourth movie was, therefore, secretly renewed by DreamWorks Animation. However, Kung Fu Panda 4 has not yet been officially confirmed by DreamWorks.
What could be the plot?
Po Ping’s family and their relationship will be explored in the movie. As the viewers watch Po fight with Kai and end all his nefarious activities, they will be amazed. The film probably seems to put light mostly on Po.
Po entered the Panda village in the previous installment and reconnected with his father and other pandas. As Po reportedly taught his son the art of Kung Fu, he turned him into a Kung Fu master. Po’s reunion with his family is expected to take place in Kung Fu Panda 4. Viewers may see the villain Kai be in a good position to defeat Po and his army of pandas with his minions.
Who could return?
Jack Black, Lucy Liu, Angelina Jolie, Bryan Cranston, Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, and Seth Rogen will lend their voices to Po, Viper, Tigress, Li Shan, Shifu, and Mantis, respectively, in the movie.
How far has the franchise Kung Fu Panda taken us?
The first three Kung Fu Panda movies had the most financial success. According to box office revenue, the Jennifer Yuh-directed Kung Fu Panda 2 was the second most successful movie in the world behind Wonder Woman.
These three sequels are particularly popular in China because they are excellent emulations of the wuxia film genre in the West.
As the lowest-grossing film of the series, Kung Fu Panda 3 grossed USD 143.5 million in the United States and Canada, and USD 377.6 million elsewhere.
A number of short films have been produced by the franchise, such as Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five (2008), Kung Fu Panda Holiday (2010), Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Scroll (2016) and Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters (2011)
Many fans believe the creators will not abandon the idea of making Kung Fu Panda 4 after a long and successful journey. There is no official confirmation of the movie yet. Keep checking back for more updates on Hollywood animated movies.
